Saturday night

Thursday night, my niece and I worked. I mean Worked! We did our first cleaning job at a factory in a nearby town - offices, bathrooms, break room, and outside break areas. It took us about 5 hours mainly because the person who'd been doing it before didn't do all their jobs, plus they quit Thursday night before they even finished anything or took the trash to the dumpsters. So, niece and I dug in and got some good cleaning done. That will make it easier next time. We'll also work up a better rhythm as we go, I'm sure.

Also, I noticed some mineral build-up on the faucets and other water areas including the drinking fountain, so I'm going to take a razor scraper with me next time and see if I can get those shiney again. Also need to take a funnel with me so we can refill the spray bottles easier.

We didn't work Friday night because we already had plans for going to my Mama's and spending the night, seeing a ballet, and just visiting. The ballet is a Christian group that did "Ruth". We'll start work in earnest on Monday night, when we'll do that factory plus another smaller office. We might try doing one in the daytime, too, if the boss has one for us. We asked the employer about the Friday night plans and he was just fine with it, telling us to go and enjoy ourselves.

You know, I didn't even find out what I'm being paid yet...LOL. Right now, with nothing coming in for either niece or me, any kind of pay will be a huge help.

As for me, I was tired and sore Friday morning, as one would expect. I'm surprised I woke up early, though, but glad I did. Niece came by and we headed out around 9 AM. I had my things gathered and am ready to go when she got here.

We did a little shopping after we got there, after lunch. My Mama and sister wanted to get us a few things we needed since they knew neither niece nor I had income yet. Mama got me some good Dr. Scholl's work shoes - white like nurses' shoes. Sis got niece (her daughter) a cute cardigan and a nice pair of black pants to wear for more dressy occasions.

We went to the ballet, which was such a blessing! The troupe is called Ballet Magnificat! They are a Christian group and dress very modestly. The performance is astounding. I'd recommend it to anyone, even if you don't think watching ballet is up your alley. They portray Bible stories using both classical and familiar Christian music. At the end, they pray and have an altar call, and will pray with anyone who comes forward.

This particular performance - Ruth - was particularly touching for me. During the portion where they portrayed Ruth and Naomi grieving over the loss of their husbands, they did it so well that I began to cry. I told Mama today, and she said she had cried, too. It was dark in the theater, of course, so neither of us knew the other was feeling so emotional.

Tomorrow I'll cook dinner for us (well, that's not unusual) and I have invited niece to join us for it, and to join us for church in the afternoon. She agreed and I'm thrilled about it. I led her to Christ several years ago and she's gone to church off and on. I'm hoping we can make a habit out of it together.

While at my family's, my sis gave me samples of her resumes to use as I do my own. I need something that lists not only my paid work experience, but also other life experiences. I'll start working on that probably Monday.
