It's getting cold!
When we gone done at work last night there was FROST all over the van! Had to let the windshield thaw before we could head home. It was really cold out.
We were going to warm the chill off the house by turning on the stove in the kitchen, but something is now preventing gas from coming through. We probably need to turn it off, unhook the gas line, and make sure that where it screws on and the valve are free of any debris or moisture that might have gotten in there over the summer. Generally, even a small bit of something will prevent proper gas flow.
The really good news is that we were able to scrape together the money for the light bill! PTL!! It'll be tight the next few days till I get my final check from Arby's, but we'll make it I know. We get paid later next week from McDonald's and that check should be a good one so I can get closer to caught up.
Not having to make so many trips back and forth has really saved gas - probably only using about half what I was using before. Plus, prices are down so that helps the budget, too.
Next propane purchase I do will be for a larger bottle of gas - 100 pounds. We'll hook that up to the heater and get the living room furniture rearranged for winter. I don't like sitting near a window when the weather is cold.
I also need to cover some of the windows with plastic to help ward off the cold air. I might even tack some heavy fabric or blankets over the front and back doors at night. This place is old and drafty, so every little bit helps.
