Greetings people of Earth

Ok, so it's a cheezy title but you're reading now aren't you? My daughter's desire to have the addresses of all her Mississippi relatives in order to send them Christmas cards has brought something clearly home to me - I don't send enough greeting cards. I don't mean just for Christmas, but I don't send cards for anything. I don't know why. They aren't expensive. You can get really low priced ones at the dollar store and they are just as pretty as any of those that are priced much higher. Plus they also express whatever sentiment you want to express.

Postage has gone up but it's still cheaper than a phone call or driving to a place to say "hello" to someone. Can you imagine handing anyone a card in an envelope, pressing .39 into their palm, and saying, "Here, deliver this card 500 miles away from here." Yep. Postage is still a bargain.

I really should reconsider this lack on my part. Maybe I should be looking into unique address labels as well. It might be fun and encourage me to do more snail mail if I have enough actual supplies here and perhaps put them all in a pretty box. Of course, free address labels would be even better, wouldn't they?

So now, what do I need? A pretty or decorated box for my mailing supplies. A package of various greeting cards - all occasion ones. A book of stamps. Some address labels. Some envelopes. Some letter writing paper.

Hey! All that would make a good gift for someone, too!

I completely agree. And I've been sorely remiss in sending cards to folks I know would get some encouragement from them. Shame on me. It seems the art of real letter writing is becoming a dinosaur, but it's really something we can bring back to life again if we just put out the effort.
