August morning musings
I'm sitting on my front porch right now, listening to my Janis Joplin CD and on the 'net. A cup of coffee sits on the table next to me, waiting to be refilled. The raucous songs of cicadas fill the still morning air as haziness settles in, promising a humid hot day ahead.
The grass in my yard is over knee high right now, yet another reason to develop the whole thing into beds and gardens. Outside Dog has found a spot in the cool dirt next to the house for a morning nap, leaving me to my musings. She's also found lots of stuff to chew up and scatter across the yard, which means I'll be out picking it all up. She never cleans up after herself.
It's already heating up outside, but hasn't reached 80 yet, so I'm ok out here. It seems like it's been a long time since I relaxed out here on the porch and I'm glad to have the time to do it today. No rush. No hurry. No place I have to be.
Oldest Son plans to come out today and finish fixing my truck. I hope he can get it going again. If he does, I'll head to the little store up the road and get Outside Dog a new collar and more dog food. If not, then I'll be begging for a ride to work tomorrow and will just stay home today. Staying home is always a good option.
Outside Dog has decided that Inside Dog is a good play toy. ID isn't so sure about that. She's an old gal and doesn't go in for the play thing so much anymore. She's mighty irritated with OD now since all she wants to do is go potty and go back inside in the air conditioned house.
