Did you set your clocks back last night?
If not, give yourself another hour to get ready for church this morning. Daylight savings time ended last night and now we're back on regular time - standard time. The proposal to extend DST to November doesn't go into effect until 2007, I think.
On to other news...
Danny's brother came here Friday and got Danny. They went to Mississippi for Danny to spend a few days with his family - his brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, and those who married in.
A brother-in-law of Danny's is gravely ill in the hospital. It doesn't look good for him. He also has cancer and it's spread all over his body. He's had it for awhile and has undergone treatments. He went in this time with pneumonia and now a lung has collapsed. He recognizes everyone that comes to see him, but can barely move in his bed now. His wife, Danny's sister, is absolutely beside herself as are her grown children. If you think of them, please pray. Pray for him to be able to go home one more time. Pray for his family to receive strength and peace and comfort.
I had planned to go to my Mom's today and spend a few days there. Last night, Brandon called. His car was broke down, would I bring oil and water? I did. He put it in the car. It still didn't go far before it quit again. We don't know what's wrong with it. We wound up just leaving it where it quit last, which is well off the highway in a cemetary road. Appropriate place for it, I think.
Anyway, looks like I won't be going to Mom's after all unless we can get that car going somehow. Brandon needs a vehicle for church and to go to work. Please pray we can figure out the car problem.
It's a bit chilly today but expected to warm up. We ran out of heating butane Friday night. I got more yesterday but it's not hooked up yet. I'll get Brandon to hook it up this morning. Thankfully, it's supposed to warm up a bit today so I might not even need the heat. But, there's also a front moving in that's bringing rain. That will make it feel chilly for sure this time of year.
The hot peppers are still producing like crazy. Guess I'll go pick a bucketful today and see about pickling them. I'll put the chilies in the freezer, though, because I use them in lots of recipes. It's the jalapenos I'll be pickling. I'll pick some turnip greens, too, and cook those. This would be a good day to make a meal of turnip greens, sweet potatoes, and cornbread, don't you think? For us in the South, this is comfort food and Autumn fare.
Maybe I'll have enough of the greens to put a bag or two in the freezer, too. I'll be glad when they also make turnips! Yum!
I think, besides the above mentioned, I'll clip coupons today and get them sorted. Also, maybe I'll get my eBay paperwork in better order - according to sales dates - and get previous months' papers stowed in a folder.
I miss Danny. He emailed from over there. He also called Friday night. Still...
I miss Danny.
