Wednesday
It's been a large day today and last night.
We had to call an ambulance to get Danny last night. He was rattling in his chest and very lethargic. After we got there they did an x-ray but said there is no pneumonia. However, lots of lesions all over in his chest.

He was again dehydrated so they gave him 2 liters of saline. Also put him on oxygen during that time and gave him a breathing treatment. He was able to rest and relax after that.
We're all home now, once again. Getting him back in out of the car was a challenge. He still resisted what we were trying to do, and he doesn't really have the strength to walk in even with help. Basically, Brandon and I each got under a shoulder and carried him along until we got him back to the bed.
I will be very relieved when Hospice starts, and I'm sure the kids will, too. We've all 4 had a rough night with little rest, and we still have the day to face.

The Hospice nurse came this morning and stayed about 2 hours. She explained to me how it all works and what is available. She also told me from now on, Hospice is our "911" because Medicaid won't pay for a hospital run plus Hospice. However, they are there 24 hours to answer emergency calls and make any other arrangements we need for Danny.
She said we'd get a bed tomorrow for him. Then, I got a call and the young man was coming this way anyway, so he brought the bed today. It's now set up and Danny's comfortably in it. Hospice also ordered oxygen and they brought a machine for that and a cylinder for emergencies - in case the power goes off.
She also has authority to order meds and ordered a suppository for him to try to get him regular again. Elizabeth will pick that up.
She gave me a folder full of information which I need to read and absorb, but she also talked about everything she gave me. She said a nurse will come out tomorrow and one can come as many days a week as we need one.
This is an answer to prayer.

Wonderful news about the bed and the help! I'm glad for you Ann...maybe now you can rest knowing Danny is being watched over and safe while you have a few moments of "down time".

I'm glad you're getting help, but I also know that it's still a lot to try and absorb all at once. My step-dad was on oxygen and it took some getting used to for my mom (having to check the dials for oxygen levels, make sure that the spare canisters were stored properly, stringing up the oxygen tubing off the floor while he was still mobile, cleaning the tubing and mask, etc.). I'm thankful that you have your children to help you, along with the hospice people, and that Danny's able to rest a bit better now that he has the oxygen and proper bed. Lizzy.

HE is an awesome God!
Many more prayers are headed your way.
Please let the hospice people help you in every possible way so you can conserve your strength for when they aren't available.
