Saturday

I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving! We did. We went to my grown daughter's house for a feast fit for a king. She had done most of the preparations as far as main courses go. I brought along a green bean casserole, 3 loaves of homemade bread, and some serving utensils.

All 5 of my children were there, along with grandchildren and friends of children. Altogether there were 17 of us there. One of the grandchildren was sick and wound up not able to eat. We had him go lay down awhile. Later on, he felt better and did eat a little.

The menu was pretty traditional - turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, potatoes, gravy, mixed veggie dish we only do at TG, green bean casserole, homemade bread, pies, and assorted beverages. I brought a little of several things home, and that will be our supper tonight. I made fresh cranberry sauce to have with it, so it's TG revisited!

Danny ate a little of nearly everything. I was pleased to see him eat like that even if he didn't "pile it on" as in previous years.

It was a pure blessing to have us all together under one roof at the same time. Noisy, but a blessing nonetheless.

Sons #1 and #2 still haven't found out if the transmission they have will work for our brown van, so it's still just parked. We're working Elizabeth's car overtime lately, trying to get everyone to every place they need to be. Brandon's car is also still broke down. Please pray we can come up with some kind of a ride very quickly. Scheduling her car won't always work, I'm afraid.

Danny had chemo Thursday. He did ok. They had to give him another shot to build up his red blood cells. Also, all the pain meds are having a reaction related to regularity. The dr. told me what to get at Walmart to give him some relief. That alone can make him pretty sick if it's not taken care of. We've been home with no plans to go anywhere today, so he's using this other med and we're hoping it works.

Yesterday, Friday, Danny's brother, brother's wife, and their oldest son came for a visit. It was good to see them. We were very surprised by a love offering and some groceries from their daughter's Sunday School class. Many of the items came just in time, and made me think how we serve a "just in time" God.

They didn't stay near long enough but even a short visit is a good one. They were able to get out and pick a mess of turnip greens from our patch out back. I picked some, too, and will cook them up in just a bit so we can have them tomorrow. Unless, of course, we get so tempted we wind up eating them tonight!

A few days ago, I got a big bag of lovely yarn in the mail. It was from a dear friend on the east coast - you know who you are! I've already worked with some of it and have decided that it will be made into several Christmas gifts. This will save us some money while the recipient gets a handcrafted item made from very lovely yarn that I wouldn't otherwise have been able to afford.

I've been saving some other items to give at Christmas, and it's about time to start getting things out, taking inventory, and making a proper list. I also have a few crocheted and knitted items to give to the church for children they know who may need a little something. There's always children who need things and I want to be able to bless others.

I'll need to start doing some baking, too, for Christmas. Most things I make can be frozen for now and still be fresh when given away.

I'm hoping in the next couple of days that we can get our Christmas tree up. It's still stored out in the storage building, so I'll see if Brandon can bring it in for us. The tote it's in also has our other decorations in it. Yes, it's a small tree..lol.

God's promise:
Jer 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
