Wednesday

Brandon's adventure at court went ok. He did have a fine to pay which included court costs, the remainder of his ticket, and the cost of the warrant they had out for him. That was $355, which fortunately I had due to the tax refund. He'll be paying it back to me, of course. He also has to get his license reinstated and that is supposed to cost him another $50. In the meantime, I've been driving him everywhere, like to work, to church, etc.

I put in a job application for a local coffee house. Hoping they'll call me in for an interview soon and hire me. It's the opening shift - 6 AM to 1 PM. The lady who owns the shop also goes to church with Elizabeth and seemed very happy that I had applied. Maybe that's a good sign.

I turned in the forms for vocational rehabilitation. I don't even know that I would qualify for any help or training, but it's possible considering the chronic pain plus high blood pressure. A counselor will call me at some point with an appointment to fill out a regular application with them. The other forms were mostly just information about why I am seeking their assistance and what problems I have.

Oh, Brandon's birthday was Monday. He turned 20. I can hardly believe it! Anyway, after he got off work I took him to Walmart and got him a fishing license, a new shirt, and some strings for his electric guitar.

The weather has been very nice lately and has given me gardening fever. I'm ready to go outside and play in the dirt. Gardening will be more abbreviated than in previous years, but I'll still plant some of our favorite things - salad greens, green onions, tomatoes, hot peppers, maybe some squash. Of course, I'll plant annual herbs like basil. It's still too early for some things as there could still be a frost or freeze before the weather stays warm, but I can still plan.
