Resolutions or goals?

Are you ready for the new year? Have you made your resolutions? Or are you setting goals instead? I prefer to set goals. A resolution seems so final, and if it's not met, then I feel like a failure. But a goal is something I can aim toward without necessarily having to reach it immediately. A goal helps me make a plan to attain the goal over a reasonable amount of time.

For instance, I know I'd like to move sometime in the new year, but I need to set some goals that will help me make a move. It's not as if I'm going to have a corporate relocation problem. It's just Brandon and me.

Ann - I, too, set goals. After all, we all have to move forward and do things to improve and move forward our lives, so it's natural to set goals to reach where we want to go in our life journeys. I set personal, financial, household, and religious goals for myself every year (2-3 of each). This enables me to work towards larger goals in every area of my life. I look at my goals throughout the year, to remind me of what I set out to do that year, and at the end of the year I review what I've accomplished, and then set my next year's goals accordingly. It's a way to see my progress and feel good about that, while at the same time noting places that I could definitely improve.

I think sometimes I tend to try and set too many goals. So, I'm going to gear back on that in order to achieve a few at a time. After all, achieving at least a few is still a move in the right direction.

    Thanks for your input!

Usually I don't do New Year resolutions. But this time I was really into it. I decided on choosing Spiritual New Year Resolutions that will make me a better Christian.

Shari, I honestly believe we can all set new goals to increased spirituality. We can never draw "too close" to God, and having resolutions to draw near to Him are the best of all.
