Closing plans
I closed at the other city McDonald's again last night, but at least it didn't take as long as before. Still, it was longer than it should have been. That one closes at 10 PM, which means we should actually be finished there by 11 or 11:30. It was around 12:30 when we got done.
I've already got a plan in mind to get us out of there faster, and if I close there again I'll put it into action. I've written out a timeline for tasks in a notebook that's in my purse. This will help keep things moving toward closing while still doing business.
Of course, a lot depends on the actual crew members who are closing with me. Last night I had one who was very fast and does a great job. The other one, not so much. This means my plan has to include workers who are a bit slower at their job so that everything gets done in a timely manner.
I'm not that crazy about closing procedures anyway. There's a lot to do at the end of the day. That's why I want to get it all done faster and get us on out of there. I'd like to get home at a decent hour, and since it's a 40 minute drive from my regular McDonald's to the other one, that makes the whole day longer.

Bless your heart! I know you hate dragging in home in the wee hours of the morning! When I did the closing when I worked at Goodwill, they just did *not* like us to have overtime. So, if there were snags in the paperwork, and we stayed later, then we had to come in later the next day. And then that would mess everybody else's schedule up. So, closing was a lot of pressure. But, like you were saying you'd do, I got where that I started procedures earlier and earlier in order to get done. I'd close all buy one register and have those drawers counted down, etc. It is a pain, isn't it?

Well, the plans didn't work out so well. They sent three people with me who had never closed before, so it was a training session and it took longer. :( Maybe next time.
