Pulling the crew together
After having closed at the other city store last night, and not getting home until around 2:30 AM, I had to be back there at 11 AM with another crew of people to work the midshift. Getting them all rounded up was like herding cats!
Only one out of the three persons was ready to leave at 10 AM. She is the daughter of a good friend of mine who used to own the homeschool store locally. One of the others had to be called so he could wake up and get down to our store. He wasn't happy about it, either, as someone last night had told him he worked the closing shift in the other city, instead of midshift. The third person had been told last night to be at work at our store at 7 AM, which she was, so we couldn't take her or she would have been working way too many hours.
We wound up calling someone in to take her place. All that confusion made us almost 30 minutes late getting to the other city store. I don't like being late at all, if I can help it. I am usually very early for everything.
