Cutting the grass

Since we've moved into this house, I've been wondering how we were going to get the grass cut. It's pretty high and needs mowing very badly. We had talked about hiring someone to come mow it, but needed to wait until funds were back up again to do that. In the meantime, it's rained on it a couple of times, which has only helped it grow even higher.

Just a little while ago, Oldest Son dropped by with a riding lawn mower. He knows a lot of people and, like his late father, is a wheeler and dealer. He got this mower given to him because it wouldn't start. He figured out the problem, got it running, and gave it to us. He just delivered it and tried it out on a swath of our yard. It cut the grass just fine.

One of the tires wants to lose air, but some compressed flat fixer will air it right up again. Even if it leaks down again, buying that is cheaper than hiring someone and paying $50 to $75 to mow this grass every week or two. I will need to get a little gas jug and put some more gas in it to really do the whole yard, but even that will be better on my budget than hiring help.

All I need now is a weed whacker and I can get the yard in good shape.
