Job progress
I've come a long way since I started working. I really never thought I had what it takes to be a restaurant manager, and I'm certainly still learning while I work for this franchise.
As a General Manager I wind up working a lot more hours, putting out fires and settling whatever "drama" happens to come along. It leaves little time for a personal life right now, though I'm hoping to have my managers trained and able to handle more of these situations themselves very soon.
I've learned a lot about running a business, of course. Keeping costs low and dealing with employees, hiring practices, health and safety issues, and legal issues. My math skills have been sharpened as I analyze the data for my store and figure out how to improve sales and reduce spending.
It's been challenging, to say the least, but it hasn't really been a bad job. This company is good to me. They are there to help when I have questions.

I'm glad to hear that your job is going well, and that you're learning lots. I hope you do have your managers trained soon, too, so that you have more time for yourself. I've also missed your blogging (but figured you were busy at work - I know how that is!!!).
Take care,
Lizzy

If I can just get them to stop panicking over piddly little things, it would be easier to be gone for awhile.
