Wandering thoughts

It's getting late and I think I'm about ready to head to bed. I've got several things planned for tomorrow and I need to get an early start if at all possible.

As I sit here, though, I think about how life has changed over the years. I've gone from raising children to being a General Manager of a fast food establishment. Some of the young people who have worked for me in the past couple of years I knew when they were pre-teens. One of the girls is now married, which really makes me feel old.

I wasn't able to make it to her wedding since I had to work, but I expect to learn before long that she's pregnant. Yes, she and her husband went about things correctly - they waited until they were married. But it's not uncommon for young couples to start a family early on in the marriage.

At least these days it's possible to get baby items such as crib bedding that are much safer to use than in years past. With flame retardant materials, safely designed bumper pads, and fiber fill that doesn't create breathing problems for an infant, babies are much safer today as they sleep peacefully in their beds.

I'm sure this young wife will be well aware of all sorts of safety issues when her first baby comes along. Even when I was having babies, I tried to stay caught up on what was safe as well as comfortable for baby.
