Nuisance phone calls

I just spent the last few minutes rejecting certain phone numbers on my cell phone and deleting them. I've been getting all kinds of off-the-wall calls ranging from "Your car warranty is about to expire" (I don't have a car warranty) to offers for satellite TV service to some that have no message at all. I've begun not even answering any call that's from a number I don't recognize, especially if it's not an area code where people I know live.

I get these calls even though I did sign up for the "Do Not Call" list. I don't have a clue how these people even got my number unless the numbers are randomly dialed by a computer. Every one of them is a computer generated message. No real people. It's really pretty aggravating to receive calls like this and I don't want to spend any minutes answering them.

I suppose that just about everyone gets this sort of call from time to time, whether you bought brand new cell phones or unlocked cell phones. Some of these calls lately may be political messages asking me to vote for their candidate. Too bad. I'm still not answering them if I don't recognize the number!

I found a website that included a long list of these nuisance call numbers and found several of them, or variations of them, that were on my phone. Apparently, this is a fairly widespread problem. All I did was a search for one of the numbers and found dozens of boards with people complaining about them!
