Me time
I try to take a little time for myself a few days a week. Sometimes, it's in the form of a "spa bath". I take a long, hot shower, exfoliate my skin, scrub my feet with a stone made to take dry skin off, slather lotion all over myself, and paint my nails.
Sometimes the "me time" is spent in crafting - macrame, crochet, weaving, etc. I need to keep the creative juices flowing.
Sometimes I spend that time in the yard, pulling weeds in the flower bed or propagating plants. I've got quite a few started already and am now trying my hand at propagating a rose bush and a jasmine vine.
I usually use days off for these activities, but sometimes there's enough of a time gap between one shift and the next that I can squeeze in something for myself then. The past few days have been busier at work than usual, so today, I'll just paint my nails and be happy with that little space of time I can spend on myself.
I really think it's a good idea for anyone to carve out some time and space just for themselves. It gives you a chance to ponder your life, make some decisions, and plan for days ahead, instead of always feeling a sense of urgency about every little thing that comes along.
