September beginnings
Working early morning one day and late night the next is almost like having a whole day off. This is what's happened for Tuesday and Wednesday this week, which means I actually got some good rest and I accomplished a couple of small tasks.
I have some Autumn decoration items I was wanting to use on my front porch. Not much, but just enough to add seasonal flavor to the area. I had made an Autumn wreath a few years back, so I attached it to the house right next to the front door. I also had gotten a couple of other Autumn items at a clearance sale, and I arranged those next to the wreath to complete the "picture". I'm happy with it.
On the other side of the front door is an old kerosene lantern into which I've put a little LED battery operated light. It's not real bright, but I like the look of it.
I moved one of my potted plants to the front porch, between two plastic deck chairs. I turned a matching pot upside down to lift the potted plant up a little.
I cleaned up the deck chairs and have them sitting in a "conversation pit" arrangement. The porch is swept free of leaves and twigs (an ongoing project since there's a large tree right next to it), and I'm now sitting outside in my "new room" and enjoying the cool September day. Cat and Dog are relaxing next to my feet and enjoying the day, too.
It seems like the weather knows when the months change, as we've been enjoying fall-like temperatures since September 1. I hope they hold out, though I wonder if this means we'll get an early and possibly hard winter. Guess I better get some other things done, just in case! I want to be ready if we get ice or power outages.
