Fire pit
So, I've been looking online for ideas about how to build a fire pit for cookouts or just for relaxing by. I've found a few good ideas including some that involve using an old big truck wheel as the base, then putting bricks or stones around it and a grate on top.
I'm thinking that's the way I'll go. An old truck wheel that's been bent a little, and no longer useful for actually mounting a tire, can be gotten pretty cheap. So can other materials to use in construction of the pit.
The first thing is to decide on the location, which I think will be out back after I've done some cleanup and clearing. Of course, it needs to be away from the house and not under trees. This means deciding if there are any already dead trees that can be taken down by someone. I've noticed a couple already. I don't want to cut living trees. They shade the area so nicely.
Then, I'll get out the weedeater and other tools to make a clear area around the pit location. I might have to do a bit of leveling since the back yard drops off fairly steeply. (Is that a word?)
It's going to take some work on my part, but I'm looking forward to having a back yard area that's as comfortable and inviting as the front is.
