Vehicle expenses
I was trying the other day to find vehicle insurance quotes for my Explorer. I noticed that some places didn't want to offer a quote for a vehicle that's 10 years old, while others did. I am not really sure why.
Basically, all I need now is our state's minimum liability. I realize that if I tear up a fender, it will probably total my truck because of the cost of repairing it. So there's really no point in getting full coverage anymore. I am glad to say, though, that because my truck is completely paid for, I can come closer to paying for the repairs out-of-pocket than I could before I paid it off. Not that repairs are cheap, but if my truck isn't destroyed I'll keep driving it until it just won't go anymore.
A few years ago, when my two youngest were teens, they hit deer while they were driving another vehicle I had. We wound up just pulling the dents out ourselves and driving it again. LOL It was really old and the cosmetics just didn't matter to us. We also did all the other mechanical repairs we could at home, until the day came when the motor was too bad to fix anymore.
With my truck, I've been out some money in the past couple months for mechanical repairs, but I'm still plugging along in it. I love that truck and hope to have it for a very long time!
