Friday goings-on
I feel like I'm having a day off, but I'm really not. I work tonight, closing. Still, that gave me enough time this morning to get a few things done that have been on my mind.
For one thing, I've been wanting to pull the dead stuff out of my raised beds and get turnips, mustard greens, and lettuce planted. I got that done earlier today and tossed the dead stuff into the compost heap. The heap, by the way, has sprouted a sweet potato vine and some other little stuff that's too small to recognize yet. However, I'm sure none of it will really make because it all started up so late. Time will tell.
I need to get a potato fork to turn the heap with. Everything is just piling up and I'd like to aerate it a little so the friendly earth worms will have more to nibble on.
I have a loaf of honey wheat bread rising as I type this. Another is in the bread machine. I'll be trying both methods today. The first loaf will go into the oven but the second will be baked by the machine. I really am just wanting to get them both done before I head into town.
Later, I'll go do my laundry at the laundrymat, before work. I'm out of uniforms. I normally only wash clothes there, then bring them home to hang out. But, I need to get them all done before work and not make that extra trip back out here.
I'm thinking that I'll take one loaf of bread with me this evening to share with others at work, if they turn out ok. I don't know what it is with bread, but you can use the same recipe and the same methods, yet sometimes the bread will fail. Maybe it's the weather or the barometric pressure affecting it. I don't really know.
