Get a horse!
With the price of gas and diesel gong so high, it's almost tempting to just get a horse and ride it everywhere. I joked to someone about this the other day, and they replied that you still have to feed the horse. I said that you can feed a horse for three months on what I pay for a tank of gas that doesn't even last a week.
Honestly, there are times that I wonder if it wouldn't be worth it to get a horse and buggy or start looking at horses and saddles for at least short trips. I know it's not really a practical idea, but it sure would be more environmentally friendly than the emissions from cars. Plus, there are no taxes, no tags, and no insurance associated with riding a horse.
A new set of tires for my car can cost me $250, but shoes for a horse would run only about $40.
If the price of crude oil keeps going up, there will need to be a lot of us who are looking for other options for transportation and regular purchases such as groceries!
