Getting my manager groove on
Even though today is just my third day as general manager, it's been busy. I mean, really busy. I'm the type of person who doesn't really know how to do anything half-way. I throw myself into whatever project is before me with full vigor, often neglecting other projects that need attention. I'm going to have to learn to pace myself better or I'll windup getting the best acne treatment on the shelf when I'm really only wanting toothpaste!
If I get distracted when I'm doing something, I go way off track. One thing that helps is keeping lists. If I don't write things down, they won't get done or purchased. My sister is also a maker of lists, and so is my mother, so I suppose we come by it naturally through her.
So, now, I have a new reason to keep my agenda book close at hand. I'll make all my notes and lists in it about things I need to do as the general manager until I get so "in the groove" of the job that it all comes as second nature to me. Meanwhile, I have to figure out how to not visit the store during hours when I'm not on the schedule to be there!
