Broken radiator hose
Son is having car problems. He was driving along and steam started shooting out from under the hood, near the windshield. Immediately, the temperature gauge went all the way to hot, so he pulled off the road and walked to a place to get water for his car. He finished that, started going again and in a few minutes it all happened again.
This time he found the source of the problem. He has a broken hose near the engine block. Now, he's got to try to get to the car parts store and either get a new hose or possibly just cut that one shorter and put a new clamp on it.
Once he repairs this problem, he'll put coolant in the car. He didn't want to spend money on that only to have it leak out again, so he decided to wait until he gets the hose fixed. That was probably a good idea, but I'm going to remind him about the coolant anyway. Plain water just doesn't keep the engine cool enough.
