Stormy weather
What a day! After being late for work (because I didn't realize I was supposed to open the store this morning), it got crazy busy. Then, right after I got off of work a terrible storm hit.
I was actually still in the parking lot when I saw the blue-green sky in the west. I was trying to go online at a wifi hotspot, to no avail. When I noticed the color of the clouds I decided it was time to head home. I packed up my laptop, started the truck, but before I got off the parking lot next to my work, it all broke loose.
I drove to my work parking lot a few yards away and sat in my truck while the strong winds rocked it and lightening flashed all around. At one point, I saw an electrical transformer about a block away shoot out three fireballs, then all the stores in the area went dark including where I work.
When it eased up a little, I headed inside. Both workers and patrons were waiting out the storm in there. A call to the power company revealed it could be anywhere from 40 minutes to three days before power was restored, as the storm had covered much of our county. Luckily, it came back on in about an hour and they were able to resume business.
However, when I went home I found that the power was out. So, Son and I headed back to Town for awhile. No special reason other than nothing was going on at home with no electricity.
Son met up with a couple of his friends so I'm here writing to my blog for a few minutes before I go back home and see if we have power yet. Since I can run/charge my laptop or charge my phone using the inverter in my truck, I'll still be OK there.
The well won't pump water without power, though. I do have some 2.5 gallon jugs of drinking water plus some water in large buckets, caught from the runoff from the roof, so I can have something to drink and a way to flush the potty if the power isn't restored for awhile.
Predictions are for more storms tonight. I hope those don't materialize! I understand there was some damage in Big Town from either a tornado or the 60 mph straight line winds.
