Healthful eating
Working at McDonald's makes it hard for me to lose the weight I'd like to lose. Yes, it's my choice what I put in my mouth so I'm not going to blame McDonald's. I just fall prey to the temptation of fried stuff when I'm there because it is tasty and smells good, too.
However, with my high blood pressure I'm really going to have to do something to drop some weight and eat in a more healthful way. Cooking at home helps a lot there. I have full control of how foods are prepared, so I can use better ingredients, fewer fats (especially bad fats), lower salt, and incorporate more fresh fruits and veggies into the meal plans.
Meal plans. That's probably where I've failed the most in recent months. Not making the plans means I might tend to grab whatever's quickest to eat when I'm hungry. As long as it's healthful, it works out OK. But it's not always healthful.
The next shopping trip I make, I'll be getting more fresh or canned fruits, better cold cereal, good, wholegrain bread, and other items that will be full of flavor without adding unnecessary fats and salt.
