Long day for a Wednesday
I've been up since about 3:30 AM, and it's beginning to show. I'm really tired and I think I'm going to have to nap awhile before I do much else.
I started out the day getting ready for work, then picking up one of the maintenance men to go with me to my store. There were several things he needed to do, and our regular maintenance man is off today. These things needed to be done before the crowd of general managers and owner-operators came in for the start of our meeting at 9.
These were all people who strictly worked in McDonald's located in Walmart stores. The setup is unique and you can't apply all the methods from regular, free-standing stores to the smaller, lower volume ones in Walmart.
We did some assessments and also did some brainstorming for ideas to spark more business in what are normally not that busy stores. We even used watches and pocket watches to time how long a potential customer is in front of the store as he or she is walking by, and came up with some ideas to attract them.
We spent the first part of the morning in the store I work at, then the rest of the morning (until about 1:30 PM) at a local corporate office for the Q&A and brainstorming session. We were given lots of handouts that I will be able to go over more thoroughly in coming days.
But not today.
Today, I just need to lie down and sleep.
