Tight quarters
The McDonald's I work at is one of the smaller ones in this area, although we do a lot of business in our location. The crew room and the office are both tiny compared to those at other stores. Well, besides the one in Walmart, anyway.
The little McD in Walmart has barely a corner they can call an "office". The only office furniture in it is a desk with a couple of file drawers and a chair. They don't do a large volume business there, so maybe it's all they need.
The office in the store I work at isn't much bigger, though. A tiny room probably only about 5 feet by 7 feet, if that. A high counter serves as the desk and there's a 4-drawer metal file cabinet for all the paperwork - and there's lots of that! The computer and servers are in there on metal shelves up high, over our heads. I always wonder if someday, those shelves will fall!
In the larger stores, the office is pretty roomy. There are two regular desks, file cabinets, and the servers are not dangerously high. Their crew rooms have televisions for crew to watch while on break, if they want to, or they can surf the internet on the computer in there. Not a bad deal, really.
